Reused Cartridge Business

The Relationship between our Cartridge Recycling Business and the Market

At present, many cartridges that are used are discarded; and if they are recycled, most are only "material recycled," where the cartridge materials are broken down and reprocessed. Nowadays, recycling has become necessary from the standpoint of the global environment. In particular, recycling that does not produce harmful substances like dioxin, and that makes use of the product in its original form; in other words, “reusing,” is being demanded. Reusing a product in it’s original form uses less energy than breaking down the material and reworking it. That is why we collect used cartridges that are no longer needed, and breathe new life into them by reusing as many of them as possible; thereby contributing to the global environment. Furthermore, we are one of the main participating members in the Association of Japanese Cartridge Recyclers (AJCR) and strive to spread the use of high-quality remanufactured cartridges.

Imex always aims to be a company that can harmonize with the global environment and will proactively promote environmental contribution activities.

The Technological Prowess of our Cartridge Recycling Business

(1) Cartridge Recycling as a Toner Manufacturer

  • We make full use of our electrophotographic technology know-how (understanding of the attributes of toner and components in cartridges), cultivated over 34 years as a toner manufacturer, to offer high-quality cartridges.
  • Offering Remanufactured Cartridges that are High-Quality and Environmentally Friendly

(2) Offering Remanufactured Cartridges that are High-Quality and Environmentally Friendly

  • We fully ascertain the quality attributes of used parts, through precise inspections that utilize various types of measurement equipment, to maintain an advanced level of cartridge quality stability.
  • We meticulously clean each part in order to reuse as much of the cartridge as possible; and, if there are parts that we cannot reuse, then we sort and recycle the material.

(3) Effects Produced from our Cartridge Recycling Business

  • Our processes allow us to remanufacture cartridges at a consistently high level of quality.
  • The reuse ratio of our cartridges is high, and we offer cartridges that have little burden on the environment.

A New Step to Reduce Office CO2

The carbon offsets is the idea of offsetting (offsetting) greenhouse gases emitted by themselves by CO2 emission reduction amount (emission right) obtained by financial assistance and technical support to the greenhouse gas reduction project conducted in other places, in the greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2 that can not be avoided in daily life and economic activities.

Reuse cartridges with carbon offset sold by Imex which give off the offsetting of CO2 emissions corresponding to the amount of electricity consumed by the printer when using a cartridge contribute to an average reduction of CO2 emissions of 6 kg per a cartridge.

Emission credits used for offset is CER (Certified Emission Reduction) (* 2) issued from the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project (* 1) that the United Nations has reviewed and approved under the Kyoto Protocol. They are purchased from Sumitomo Corporation and relocated (free transfer) to the depreciation account of the Japanese government. The transferred emission credits can contribute to the reduction target of minus 6%. in Japan's Kyoto Protocol.

* 1:The CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project is a project to reduce greenhouse gases implemented by developing countries by supporting funds and technologies of developed countries,it have to undergo rigorous review by the United Nations.

* 2:CER (Certified Emission Reduction) is an emission credit that has been judged and certified by the United Nations and contributes to economic growth and CO2 emissions reduction in developing countries.

Carbon Offset of Reuse Cartridge

A:Emission rights that contribute to economic growth and CO2 emissions reduction in developing countries.

B:Reusing thrown rice as generated fuel

C:Sumitomo Corporation is the subcontractor for the adjustment of emission credits. We acquired emission tariff of 500 t-CO2. We use some of our sales revenue and adjust emissions credits.

D:Our Emission credits is transferred free of charge to the Japanese government, contribute 6% reduction target of Japan's Kyoto Protocol.

E:We acquired emissions credits issued by the United Nations based on the achievements of Brazilian rice mills that reduced greenhouse gas emissions. United Nations CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project approval number 231. Please visit the United Nations website for details of the project.
